Since our founding in 2017, the Garden State Initiative has advocated for policies that will result in New Jersey reclaiming its position as an economic engine of growth and prosperity. We are confident that New Jersey can be economically diverse and fiscally strong, with vibrant communities and a business environment that affords the opportunity for all its citizens to thrive.

A key component of that rebuilding has included our Annual Economic Policy Forums, which bring together policy experts, elected officials, and business leaders for candid discussions of the challenges we face, but also to build consensus on solutions to fulfill our state’s economic promise.

We’re pleased to announce that, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, we will be hosting our Annual Economic Policy Forum at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick. Through the generous support of the William E. Simon Foundation, the event is free to the public, but registration is required.

The forum, with the theme “Unleashing New Jersey’s Potential,” will open with Policies Have Consequences: A Conversation with Dr. Arthur Laffer, the founder, and chairman of Laffer Associates, who served as an economic adviser to four U.S. presidents and is frequently seen offering economic analysis on cable news and in national newspapers. Laffer will be speaking on the impact of policy decisions on economic prosperity at the state and national levels. Moderating the discussion will be Larry Mone, former president of the Manhattan Institute and a founding member of GSI’s board of directors.

The event will then continue with two panels. First, a panel of Garden State business, labor and policy leaders discussing our state’s economy in Business in New Jersey: Opportunities & Challengers. Then, the formal program will conclude with a final panel on a topic that is leading the headlines across the state — energy. Moderated by Rick Mroz, former president of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the panel, New Jersey’s Energy Options, will bring together a wide range of industry experts to explore alternative energy policies uniquely available to our state.

At the conclusion of the program, attendees are invited to attend a complimentary reception to network with our policy experts and business leaders in attendance.
